If you find yourself at the crossroads of insomnia and insanity, this is the place to channel those demons that keep you sleepless. Vivid pictures, poetry, ruminations, and confessions from the nether hours between dusk and dawn. Originally formed to celebrate the city at night, there's a strong urban theme.

Self-described as "a little community with a lot of rage," you can soak up impassioned vibes and read blistering exposes detailing sexist attitudes in the news, pop culture, and science! A must-join community if you are, or love, a feminist. (NB: the topic of whether a "man" can be a feminist is outside the scope of this spotlight, but will probably wind up on the Writer's Block.)

What a difference a digit makes

I just found out, much to my amusement, that it can mean the difference between calling my son's caregiver, and calling a gay hotline...

Seduced by Facebook

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 5:12 PM
One of my goals last year was to post more on LJ. I did really good until about mid-year when I started using Facebook. I have been seduced by the short, sweet, and amusing communication medium that is FB. It is easier and quicker to read. I haven't accepted any list serves and so don't have to wade through lots of posts to get to the good stuff from my friends. And I don't feel guilty posting one to two lines of material.

I find it a great medium for sharing random thoughts and observations. I once said on here that I wanted someone to tell all those random things to at the end of the day. For a while I had that and I loved it. While FB isn't near as good as having that person, it is a better fit than LJ for those communiques. So, please, if you are not already on my FB, come find me so we can keep in more random touch :-).

I will still strive to post more lengthy and journalistic posts on here. My goal for 2010 is at least once a month. I like the record this leaves for myself, if for no one else.

2010

Christmas and New Year’s Eve, despite the drama with mum, they were wonderful. I spent Christmas weekend with the new man in my life doing nothing but avoiding external frenzy and chaos, even managed to have our own small but nice little Christmas dindin… New Year’s Eve I did the one thing most important to me and that is spending that time with The Richardsons, Crispy, Dana and few other friends come hell or high water… Those are the best parts…

As for the bad parts, I cried and wailed (offline and online) like a banshee bored out of her gore (sp?), I know I’ve disgusted a lot of people doing so… Those whom I consider my family, I’m sorry for the theatrics, I couldn’t hold all that in for long… Those whom I don’t know and want to judge, make use of your thumbs by sticking it up your stinky arses and remind yourselves that your shit stinks too like the rest of us…

So for 2010, instead of doing the resolutions thing, I’m going to say this: I would like to give a great, big FUCK YOU to the following: Mum’s greediness, external validation, people with bad attitudes, people who like to tell me no for no good reason and shitty drivers. I don’t care anymore about the whole “you must be this cute/hot to get x” or whether or not I should move to the next lane just you can speed like an arse, I’d rather eat a bowl of pho with lots of rooster and hot sauce and fart holes into every asshole’s head.

So here’s to a wonderful year!

I hate filing.

But, it has to be done.

Thank goodness for free mp3 downloads of CBS Mystery Theater, which I use to stay up late and listen to in jr. high.

There really is something to be said for strictly audio media.

Forces your mind to imagine the appearance of the characters, and the setting, and the facial expressions...oddly helps me focus on the menial tasks around the house.

Video may have killed the radio star, but I *do* like the occasional haunting of its ghost from time to time...

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I'm gonna try my best to make this one the best yet, for me and those close to me.

Cheers! :)

In the first two years, the competition brought in over £65,000 (that's $107,260.73 U.S.!), with entries from 130 countries last year. Renaissance10 recently joined LiveJournal to meet other passionate photographers and find supportive friends.
